Shark and rays are apparently facing the threat of overfishing in Bangladesh, however, both the scientific communities and policy makers appear to be indifferent to the issue. What can possibly be done about it?
To my knowledge and experience, as I have been documenting in the past three years, this scenario of shark fishing is common to most countries in Southeast Asia region.
Thailand is one of the top exporters of Shark products, if they can be the shark-protector now, why not Bangladesh?
Poor knowledge capacity does not mean that Bangladesh is not exploiting the Elasmobranch biodiversity in the Bay of Bengal.
